Phuri Sherpa is the son of Kame Sherpa and Daputi Sherpa. He was born on March 4, 1992. He is sponsored by the Milijuli Foundation to attend the Himalaya International Model School (HIMS) in Kathmandu. He is now (2007) in class 6. He lost some years in the transfer from the village school to the school in Kathmandu.
